On Day 1 of London Fashion Week I wandered into the Newgen room at Somerset House and saw that Danielle Romeril was one of the designers being exhibited and I was too excited!

I interviewed Romeril in September when I was at fashion week, when she merely had two rails in the upstairs showrooms. This year has been a whirlwind one for her with a sponsorship by Topshop Newgen. For any new designer this is the recognition they need to take their line to the next level.

I interviewed Romeril and photographed her gorgeous new collection for my paper, Nouse.

A FLASH OF LIGHT

Day 4 of London Fashion Week and my last day saw me braving the all white look. And let me tell you, when you're squashed on the tube surrounded by little people, its a nerve racking experience.

Thankfully my whites stayed white throughout my crazy busy day.

What I really want to say is how pretty are these boots?! 

Whistles finest and higher than my usual choice of footwear...after about 2 hours of walking around in them I caved in...and changed back into my AirMax. You can't say I didn't try!

Oh and this scarf was a genuine life saver (hence the reason you haven't seen me out of it!)

THE BEST OF THE REST

The best of the rest.

And what a glamorous rest they were.

These are just a few of my fav shots from LFW. The theme this season seemed to be dressing down. A lot of trainers and comfy jumpers topped off with amazing hats and bags, perfect for the weather than was anything other than great. 

Now all I can think about are those felt fedoras. Blue or black...blue or black...

A CHEEKY GRIN

This was day 3 of fashion week after I had just tried (and failed) to crash the Topshop Unique show. But I did watch it from an upstairs window at the Tate Modern which was pretty groovy.

This outfit was pretty perfect for the weather. Dark and moody but with the bright clutch to break it up. Oh and how sexy is the backdrop?!

DAY 4 WHITE OUT

Day 4, my final day. And what a way to round London Fashion Week off. Started with the gorgeous Huishan Zhang presentation at The Dorchester (sleeveless polo neck yes please!) and a yummy muffin.

Then it was to Fashion Scout where Zeynep Tosun produced the most perfect beanie hats I've ever seen! Pom-poms, leather peaks and in varying shades, the cream one was the one for me.

Finally to the David Koma show where he brought sexy back. Leather details, cut out panels and high hemlines were just a few of the accents that made Koma one of my fav shows.

Now I'm home, with my feet up sorting though all my photos. I've had the most amazing time, exhausting but fantastic!

I've got piccys of my outfits from the last two days that I'll be posting up here over the next few days so stay tuned.

For now, back to reality, uni and a student's life.

DAY 3 A BEAUTY

A couple of little snapshots from the Sunday of fashion week. And what a beauty it was. 

A lot of rushing around between Somerset House and Fashion Scout and the Topshop Show Space which was in the Tate Modern this year. 

It was the coolest space and I managed to squeeze into an upstairs space to watch it live (albeit from a birds eye view!) Pretty cool though. And saw a fair few amazingly dressed, gorgeous ladies. I have to say that Poppy Delevingne look beautiful today!

Up early tomorrow for presentations so I'm hoping for a clear day as taxis aren't really a student's thing and I've just washed my hair. So weather people if you wouldn't mind. Thanks.

DAY 2 MOODY BLUES

Day 2 of LFW...and I'm doing my best moody model impression in my really rather comfortable outfit of the day.

The sun finally came out so our amazing photographer managed to snap some piccys of me rushing between Somerset House and Fashion Scout for various shows. 

Another jam packed day beginning with Holly Fulton and ending with a lovely drinks reception in the showrooms. Here's to the mini burgers and endless champagne!

Bring it on Sunday. And please more sun and less wind!

DAY 1

Day 1 of London Fashion Week is complete as is Valentine's Day! And I hope you all had great days whether it was with a loved one or on the sofa in front of the TV.

Day 1 of fashion week was a killer. Rain and wind equalled really un enjoyable queuing happenings but the shows were awesome. Bora Aksu, Daks and the Haizhen Wang presentation. Not bad for a first day!

I did take some snaps but this one is going to have to do for the moment as I'm under contract by my paper so can't share them with you just yet! But just wait and see.

For now though it's bed time. Need to prepare myself for the hurricane force winds I'll no doubt face tomorrow.

THE PHOTOGRAPHER IN THE SPOTLIGHT

I know this is a little late but I wanted to share with you guys a little project I did while I was at LFW.

Everywhere I looked people were either having their picture taken or taking the picture! It was quite amazing the number of cameras that were on display simply as accessories. 

The street-style trend where everyone and anyone is the photographer, is one that seems to have got slightly out of control this season so I think it will  be interesting to see where it goes from here!

LFW: THE FINAL DAY

So 5 days, 58 shows (not all of which I managed to make this year-must try harder next time) and 15 presentations later, London Fashion Week September 2013 is over.

I am exhausted just from thinking about all the miles the models have walked, all the photos that have been taken, all the umbrellas that have been abandoned and all the chocolate I consumed. But it was an amazing and eye opening experience of a world where names are impossible to pronounce and just because it’s raining does not mean you can’t dress like you’re in Saint Tropez in the height of summer. So a round of applause for the SS’14 collections that will carry us through the grey winter and here’s to the next season!

These snaps were taken in an underground car park...by my dad...without his glasses on...so excuse the blurriness but hope you like the outfit! Thanks dad. Oh and excuse the hair-it was raining all day!

INTERVIEW: DANIELLE ROMERIL

Walking into the RTW Emerging showroom at Somerset House, the first designer to catch my eye is Danielle Romeril. Dressed head to toe in her own SS’14 collection, the Irish designer characterizes her brand. Bright whites contrast with blacks and turquoise with the emphasis heavily on texture, as it was in many of the shows seen at NYFW this year. 

This is Romeril’s third collection, having worked previously for Amanda Wakely and then in the studio of Alberta Ferretti. I managed to grab a few moments with the designer asking her about her inspiration behind the collection and the craftsmanship that went into making these pieces. Romeril cites bubble wrap and sticky tape as the main influences behind her collection as well as two cubist artists, Albert Gleizes and Mainie Jellet. The fabrics are Italian and have a slightly starchy feel to them that give the clothes structure when worn both on a hanger and on a body. She took a collage approach to the fabrication of each piece for example looking closely at a sheer top, you will find hand crafted panels of lace perfectly off set against the bubbled fabric. 

The darker pieces have sections of bright turquoise that updates black for summer months. It is a collection that is based on texture and the idea that clothes can look 3D and also very chic at the same time. I leave Romeril sorting through the rail of a cleverly designed collection that slips very nicely into its own little niche in the fashion world. I for one am extremely excited to see where she goes next.

WHITE WALLS & WHITE SHIRTS

So this is what I wore for Day 4 of fashion week. Snapped by my lovely friend Daisy on the way to buy our supper. A busy day meant a evening on the sofa watching Game of Thrones which I'm now officially addicted to!!

So what i'm wearing...my uniform for fashion week basically. I wore a different white shirt every day and a different pair of Nike trainers (although yes I know I wore these ones twice-they're just that great!) I'm not great at heels so for me Nike are my saviour.

No. Wait. Is that blue sky?! Why yes the sun did come out for the fourth day of LFW and so did the peacocks. Fashionistas one and all littered the entrance to Somerset House aching to be photographed. And there were almost as many photographers as there were people being photographed. Nonetheless, I did my bit, snapping a few of the best dressed then off I went to explore the showrooms. 

I hung around looking at beautiful clothes, getting my makeup done, eating a Starbucks, then headed over to the KTZ show, which couldn't be further from the delicate lace at Burberry if it tried. Leather jackets, jumbo peaked caps and plenty of gold and silver hardware were worn by models with serious attitude and serious eyebrows. It was a pretty cool show but the clothes weren't particularly wearable. Although that horned hairband would improve my street cred...
