MONDAY MOTIVATION #6

So I have exciting news.

Tomorrow I'm off on an experience of a lifetime. And it's going to be awesome!

I'm going to Sri Lanka for just under three months to intern at a publishing house, living and working in one of the most beautiful places in the world.
I've been there before on a family holiday but this will be completely different.

I will stay in touch on here for sure, hopefully there will be many a photo opportunity but bear with me as I think for July I will be pretty flat out.

Ooo I'm so excited!! Stay tuned on here but for now, speak soon.

Oh and a little motivation to get me on my way.
I'm unsure of who said it but its so appropriate that I just had to post it.
I hope it also inspires some of you.

ALMOST THE WEEKEND #5

This weeks Almost The Weekend, after a little break, is by one of the best bands around.

The 1975, I'm in love. They do no wrong in my eyes.

And this song celebrates Girls in all our glory. How great is that?!

Oh and the lead singers hair...you have to check it out!

CITY BREAK

A city break.

One of the best holidays you can go on in my opinion. Because sometimes you want to do more than just lie on a beach.

This is a little collage I did for the latest edition of Nouse about what I would wear should I find myself exploring a fashionable city around the globe.

All white of course topped off with my fav new trainers and a bright bag for storing all those purchases that you are bound to make.

MONDAY MOTIVATION #5

So I know it's been a while but here it is as promised.

The first Monday Motivation for June. Never too later ey?!

And it is one to remind you all that it's ok to slap on the make-up every once in a while.
Realistically we all know it only enhances our natural beauty!

Yves Saint Laurent is a bit of a gem when it comes to quotes.
He was a man who appreciated the woman in all her forms. He wouldv'e been that friend who told you you looked good even on your most hungover of mornings.

This is one I borrowed from the wonder that is TheWriting, one of the coolest accounts on Instagram.

Happy Monday guys. Stay passionate.

JESS AT THE BEACH

The most gorgeous editorial I've seen in a long time.

Finally England is beginning to feel like summer (although as I write this a rather ominous black cloud is looming...).
And Jess Hart on location for Net-A-Porter is just making me dream of the beach, the sea and sun kissed skin.

Now I just need to chuck out that packet of cookies...

Oh and sorry for the radio silence. We've all finished exams at uni and so have been busy letting our hair down, so to speak.

TAKE TWO

So I know these look like photos...but they're paintings...I know how amazing is that?!

These double exposed beauties are by Pakayla Biehan and I just think they're stunning.
Absolutely beautiful.
I want one of these hanging on my wall. There's just so much to look at.
Looking at them makes me feel so serene. I don't know why.

As you can tell, I'm smitten.

CONTROL ALT

Emmanuelle Alt.

French Vogue editor and the ultimate Parisian.

In this months issue of Vogue UK, there is an awesome interview with her by Jo Ellison.

Make-up free most of the time, a wonder in minimal dressing and an aversion to exercise, she sounds like my kind of lady.

Oh and her opinion on the difference between us British girls and our French counterparts?!

"The British try to be cool and the French try to be sexy"

And did I mention she made a music video to Wham's 'Wake Me Up Before You Go Go' upon becoming editor?! Yes this lady is un real.

ALMOST THE WEEKEND #4

Music is pretty great really, isn't it?!

There's a song for every mood, every weather, every holiday.

And this beauty by Coldplay is one of my favs at the mo. I think Coldplay are just incredible.

They are the musical version of a little black dress.
Never in fashion but never out of it either.

RAINY DAY DIY

A DIY.

It's been a while since I did one because uni work had to kind of take over.
But now I only have one presentation left to do I figured I can take time off that incredibly boring work to do a simple DIY, one that I've been wanting to do for ages.

Distressed jeans. Don't they just ache with cool-ness?!

I've had these jeans lying around my wardrobe for ages. They're a bit big and already have holes in the belt loops so they were the perfect pair to be distressed.

Honestly the most simple process:

I put the jeans on. Marked where my knees were. Took them off. Cut small lines with scissors then used the smallest holes on the cheese grater to distress the cuts.
Oh and then I washed them and threw them in the dryer, just to make the cuts look less uniform.

And voilá! I have me a pair of pretty bad ass jeans.

Jeans: Zara (old)

And I know, I forgot Monday Motivation again! I'm terrible. But I had a bad day (as Mondays can sometimes be) and so I'm sorry!
If you want to hear some wisdom from Dr Seuss, or about how to stay original or about ill-behaved women, check out previous weeks.

I promise I'll do better next week :)

CHARLIE MAY

Happy June to you all!

It was finally sunny today and so I did what every English person does...I got burnt!
Silly I know but I just got a bit over excited.

Now let's talk about Charlie May.

She's one pretty awesome designer who founded her own label in 2011. Minimal and effortless is how you would describe her collections, two words that just make my sartorial heart sing.
I mean I would have every single one of her pieces in my wardrobe.

Not to mention that this is one of the sleekest editorials I've seen in a while.
Those shadows, oh just so perfect!

Check out an interview with her here. What a babe.
