SHERBERT

So I started this blog way back when I had a terrible habit of saving every image and noticed too many amazing projects to store them all on my slowly dying laptop.

I'd read about this thing called blogging and some people were getting pretty famous by doing it and so I thought, well why not?

Now five years down the line, I can inform you all that I am not (yet) famous, sadly.

But I'm still posting up stuff that catches my eye.

And this sherbert coloured unsalvageable aquatics building is just incredible.

The artist Katharina Grosse and MoMA PS1 director Klaus Biesenbach devised this beautiful design as a unique send off to the building, using its bare brick walls as a blank canvas on which to project their sherbert coloured sunset.

Projects like this are even more special, I think, because the artist takes something that people walk past everyday and changes it into a piece of art, suddenly making it memorable.

Absolutely beaut.

GIRLS

The tall towers of Wapping Hydraulic Power station loom imposingly over the road but still you would be forgiven if you passed right by the entrance to the latest Annie Leibovitz exhibition. The only giveaway is the light grey flag hanging majestically from one of said red brick towers, fluttering in the light breeze. There’s no mass of crowds nor are there the usual logistical annoyances to enter an exhibition. A quick chat to a security guard, a downing of the coffee, a few steps down what appears to be an old fire escape and you find yourself immediately in the heart of the exhibition.

WEIWEI

I'm not going to lie. Getting up in the dark is never an enjoyable experience. And getting up when it's dark, cold and rainy is just the pits.

But when an invitation lands in your inbox to see the most talked about exhibition of the year at the Royal Academy at 8am, before the eager masses are even allowed to enter the building, an early morning suddenly doesn't seem so bad.

Ai Weiwei is the man behind the exhibition and what a man he is.

Having grown up in one of China's notorious labour camps, he has been imprisoned, beaten, harassed and lives in a constant state of surveillance. 

From these horrific circumstances however, he creates beautifully powerful pieces of art that leave you feeling insignificant and empowered in one thought.

It was utterly mesmerising. Truly one of the best shows I've ever seen.

TAKE TWO

So I know these look like photos...but they're paintings...I know how amazing is that?!

These double exposed beauties are by Pakayla Biehan and I just think they're stunning. 

Absolutely beautiful. 

I want one of these hanging on my wall. There's just so much to look at. 

Looking at them makes me feel so serene. I don't know why.

As you can tell, I'm smitten.

PEOPLE: OLIVIA STEELE

One of my very good friends introduced me to Olivia Steele's work over the weekend and I already absolutely love it! Her neon art is so cool and i love the fact that it can go anywhere and it still looks awesome. And to top it off she is one seriously cool woman!
